which took place aboard Carnival Cruise Lines' ship Inspiration. Over 600 REALTORS from across Georgia attended this unique annual convention which took them from Tampa, Fla., to Cozumel, Mexico and back.

Perry was one of 34 people nominated for the highly coveted honor. At state conventions across the country, committees meet to select the one person in the state, who, in the judgment of his or her peers, has made the most significant contribution to the real estate profession and to the community during the year. These individuals exemplify what it means to be a REALTOR. Each year since 1920, the Georgia Association of REALTORS has recognized one of its members with this prestigious award. All nominees must be a current or past REALTOR with a local real estate board. Perry was nominated by the Brunswick-Glynn County Board of REALTORS. Only two other REALTORS from the Brunswick area have received this award - John Kaufman in 1969 and Frank Cerrato in 1982 for Sales (note: GAR no longer awards a REALTOR of the Year-Sales award).

"Just to be associated with the names of the past winners is an honor," said Perry. "It's filled with people for whom I have admiration and respect."

Brunswick-Glynn Board members were thrilled to hear Perry's name called during the ceremony. "Ronnie Perry is a REALTOR, but to [our board], he is the fundamental core of our REALTOR community and has been for decades," said Missy Lane, 2005 President for the Brunswick-Glynn Board of REALTORS.

Toni Cockeram, Association Executive for the Brunswick-Glynn Board, was equally ecstatic. "[Ronnie] is devoted to his family, his faith, his profession and his community. We don't think that there is another member of GAR more deserving of this award."

Perry received his real estate sales license in 1975 and his broker's license in 1979. He is currently the Broker Owner of Ronnie Perry Realty Company, Inc. in Brunswick and is also the founder and director of Oglethorpe Bank in Brunswick.
